On Friday morning, a news team in Chicago breathlessly gave viewers a play-by-play of a small plane crash that apparently happened on a normally busy street -- without realizing the scene was actually staged for NBC's drama Chicago Fire.

In a report that went out live and has now gone viral, WGN anchors Larry Potash and Robin Baumgarten reported about the situation as they watched a newscopter's view of the scene.
