I guess that title sounds odd, doesn't it? Especially coming from me, one who prefers the summer time.
As I write this, the climate here in Sussex County has been simply fabulous. This is the time of the year to catch some of that fantastic looking fall foliage, especially when driving along Routes 15, 23, and 206. And because Mother Nature has blessed this area with a warm spell, it's a great time to have your windows rolled down as you take in this wave of "Indian Summer". Personally, I try to appreciate what we have now because let's face it...it's all downhill from there as it gets chillier in the weeks and months not too far away from now.
One of the things I remember as a young kid was during the fall season, my family would go to an apple farm somewhere in southern NJ and start picking apples. I always looked forward to events like this...the smell of the fresh apples emanating from the trees was very intoxicating and in a good way to say the least! My family's house was stocked full of apples for what seemed to be a surplus supply and out of that came lots of apple pies and assorted fruit salads.
And finally, since we're in the fall season, you'll have to forgive me as I continue to cheer the red hot Philadelphia Phillies. Currently 2-0 in the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, I really believe that the Fightin' Phils have a very good shot at playing the World Series. My friends (many of which are frustrated Mets fans) have come to the conclusion that I'm impossible to be around with while I am afflicted with "Phillies Fever"!
And on that note, all I can say is "Go Phillies"!
