Today marks the 39th anniversary of the day that man first stepped onto the moon. I barely remember that day as I was very young at nearly 3 years old, with my dad glued to the television set. It was a monumental day in human history as it was being broadcasted live on television, yet my young toddler mind didn't see the big deal in it because as I had pointed it out to my father, "Daddy, I saw Bugs Bunny go to the moon the other day on TV". I'm pretty sure he got a chuckle out of that one...
As we get deep into the summer season, this week, I get to relive one of my favorite things while growing up. My family used to take a 6 hour road trip to visit my cousins in Virginia Beach and we'd spend a few days down there playing around while our parents chit chatted about absolutely nothing. We'd also go to the beach, the waterparks, fishing...all the fun stuff you can think of when you take a few days and go someplace far away from home. As a youngster, I used to marvel and admire the sights as my dad drove down US Highway 13 down through Delaware, Maryland and Virginia before reaching our final destination. This coming weekend, I'm the one doing the driving while my mother and my brother do the sightseeing on our way to Virginia Beach. I don't get to see my relatives too often these days, but when we do get together, it's always a nice feeling, especially when reminiscing about the "wonder years".
See ya in a couple of weeks!
