Today marks 23 years since that terrific day of July 13, 1985 for pop music as the whole reason for the event was to help the famine relief in Ethiopia. You may have memories of what was going on in your life that particular day. For me, I woke up early that day to watch everything off MTV and ABC later that night. It was a scorcher of a day and I never left the confines of my air conditioned house. Still burns me up that I never actually went to Live Aid, even though it was only minutes away from where I was living at the time.
I also recorded audio of the acts that I was interested in as the local station in Philadelphia was airing the national audio feed. My family still couldn't afford those bulky VCRs at the time, so I never got to videotape it. Fortunately, most of that footage is now on DVD!
In a sentimental moment, I was nearly in tears when I realized the whole thing was over and Channel 6 in Philadelphia began airing the news, which was airing post Live Aid reports.
