Check out this story about bras and how you can help! And check out this creativity!

Innovative Hook UP For Breast Cancer Recovery Jean Taylor of Camp Taylor, and home of the Lakota Wolf Preserve in Columbia, New Jersey, is looking for bras. Jean is
trying to create a mile long string of bras to help support those who ’have
walked the mile’ of breast cancer. Ms. Taylor is requesting people send in new,
or gently used bras, along with a donation to honor someone who has been
affected by breast cancer. All donations will go to Casting for Recovery, which provides healing retreats to help women overcome the challenges of breast cancer.
Jean is not collecting just any bras, but decided to collect colorful, creatively decorated bras! Many creators have incorporated a sense of humor in their donated decorated bras. So far Ms. Taylor has collected decorated bras that look like cats, aquariums, tropical birds, the Titanic, and a collection of animal themed bras from Space Farms Zoo. Ms. Taylor has received 57 bras, (57 yards) so far but needs 1760 bras to complete the mile long goal. The challenge is being met by women from all over the world. Jean has received bras from as far away as
Croatia.
Ms. Taylor is creating the mile long string of ‘Hooked Up’ connected bras and will display
them at Camp Taylor during the weekend of June 19th, 2013 during a convention
of Sisters on the Fly. Sisters on the Fly are a group of adventurous women who
meet to enjoy outdoor activities.“While planning the Sisters on the Fly’s
N’oreaster trip to Camp Taylor, one of the women mentioned this type of activity
as a fundraiser. When I heard of Casting for Recovery and the bra hook-up
program, I thought it was a great idea. This was something I could incorporate
into a worthwhile activity at the campground,” says Ms. Taylor. “I also thought
it had potential for a much larger fundraiser. There are people who are getting
together with friends and holding ‘bra decorating parties’. It is a humorous
way to get people involved in dealing with a tragic situation.”
Casting forRecovery was founded in 1996 by two women, a breast reconstructive surgeon and a professional fly fisherwoman. These ladies realized that the physical motion
of fly casting is similar to the exercises that surgeons prescribe after
surgery or radiation for breast cancer. These exercises or motions promote soft
tissue stretching which helps the recovery process. The Casting for Recovery
retreat program combines medical expertise, counseling, fly fishing and breast
cancer recovery at no cost to participants. The $1,000. cost is funded solely
on donations from the general public and corporations. For more information
please check the web site: www.castingforrecovery.org.
The decorated bra chain may be viewed at Camp Taylor
starting in June or on Face Book at www.facebook.com/hookupforrecovery
page. Ms. Taylor hopes the mile long colorful chain will be a traveling display
to help collect more bras and donations in the future.
If you would like to donate a decorated bra to the mile long ‘Hook Up for Recovery’ please
send the name of the person you are honoring, your bra creation, and your supportive donation, to Jean Taylor, 85 Mt. Pleasant Rd. Columbia, N.J. 07832 by June 1st. If you
would like to purchase an already decorated bra, just include an additional
donation of $5. To view the collection of decorated bras received so far,
