Vincent Dransfield, a great-grandfather from Little Falls, New Jersey, celebrated his 110th birthday last month, making him the eighth-oldest reported man alive. Dransfield, a former volunteer fire chief, lives independently, cooks his own meals, and even drives daily.
Born in 1914, Dransfield has enjoyed a healthy life with minimal health issues. He has never suffered from major diseases like cancer or heart disease, and his only complaint is some knee pain. He attributes his longevity to luck, drinking milk, and doing what he loves.
Dransfield began working at a dairy farm at the age of 15, where he had an unlimited supply of milk. "I was drinking milk and eating well because I worked on a farm. And I often go back and think they gave me a good start in life and for my bones in my body," Dransfield said to the NY Post.
He also credits his long and healthy life to his time spent as a volunteer firefighter. He spent over 80 years serving as a member of the local volunteer fire department, including a stint as the fire chief.
Despite his age, Dransfield remains active and independent. He lives alone without any home aide or extra help, manages to navigate his three-level house, and drives daily without any issues. His family checks in on him regularly, but he remains largely self-sufficient.
