New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut are among 17 states joining the FTC in an antitrust lawsuit against Amazon. The lawsuit alleges the online retail and tech giant is a monopolist that prevents rivals and sellers from lowering prices, stifles innovation, and overcharges sellers. The suit essentially claims Amazon prevents rivals from fairly competing against it. New York Attorney General Letitia James says Amazon should be held accountable for illegally raising prices for consumers and taking advantage of online sellers in its storefront, adding the company's tactics hurt the overall economy.
