Walmart will cut 1,200 jobs in New Jersey and Arkansas

Walmart plans to cut over 1,200 jobs in New Jersey and Arkansas on January 31st 2021. The layoff notices have already been sent to the employees affected and the company has offered some of them other jobs with the company. The layoffs are a reaction to a big shift to online shopping over the past several years. Walmart is not the only company shifting more of it's focus to on line sales. Walmart CEO Doug McMillon told investors recently during a recent call: "changes in customer behavior have accelerated the shift to e-commerce and digital." The company has announced they will be hiring 20,000 seasonal workers at e-commerce facilities nationwide.
