My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Attempting To Stay In

My goal this weekend was to not have an Epic Weekend In Pictures. With bad Covid numbers in Jersey rising, and an action packed November schedule for us, I wanted to stay in this weekend and rest up. Next weekend is our annual Stuff The Bus food drive radiothon campaign, one of the most important things we do all year. The following weekend I'm praying to be able to go back home to Boston and see my family for my birthday and Thanksgiving. I have purchased one at home Covid test kit so far, we'll cover that more in the following weeks.

It was a tough weekend. My weekends without Awesome Girlfriend Megan are always tough, I miss her tons. The every other weekend deal can be tough sometimes. With numbers increasing locally and nationally, we agreed it was best for us to take the weekend staying in and apart. Awesome Girlfriend Megan had her family, so she wasn't alone at least which made me happy. For me, I knew how to try and entertain myself solo. It was tough missing my friends birthday parties (shout out to my friends Chris, and Shawn,) but I knew we were putting in positive efforts.

Friday night my most epic adventure was changing a light bulb in my bedroom. Woohoo! I stayed in watching The Masters on television which was mildly amusing. It did feel nice to unwind, stay in and not even go on social media at all for the night. I was probably in bed by 9pm. This led to me waking up wide eyed at 5:30 Saturday morning. UGH. Don't you hate when you wake up so early on the weekend and can't do anything else?

I took a melatonin and went back to bed. I swore to myself a few months ago that on weekend mornings when I wake up too early and can't get anything else done, instead of struggling trying to go to bed, or watch television trying to go back to bed, that I'll just pop a melatonin and go back to sleep. It's natural anyway, right? I didn't bounce back well from it. I don't know if I really slept or not, but I did lay down and rest for the next few hours. Then after that, it was time to get some major epic weekend errands accomplished.

My iPhone 7 gets made fun of often. It's old and outdated, but it's comfortable for me. Awesome Girlfriend Megan loves her iPhone 11. Now with the iPhone 12s being released, it was time for me to finally catch up with the times. My biggest hold up with all of these major changes? iPhone 7 has a home button. iPhone SE does have a home button, iPhone 12s do not have a home button. I LOVE the home button. Whenever I used Awesome Girlfriend Megan's phone for our selfies (because her phone camera is much better than my iPhone 7,) I struggle mightily. I struggle without the home button, I struggle getting to her camera, then when I hit the wrong button I struggle to find anything else. Me on her phone is the equivalent to a caveman basically. Not pretty.

I also don't like the height / size of iPhone 11 + 12s. By the time I put a case on it, it can barely fit in my jean pants pocket. Awesome Girlfriend Megan discovered that they're coming out with an iPhone 12 Mini. It's basically the same size as my iPhone 7, with a slightly bigger screen but no home button.

I went to Verizon in Sparta by Shop Rite and Trinity Rehab. I felt like an @$$ when I asked Verizon manager Joseph if I could practice on their sample iPhone 12 not using a home button. He laughed and said I was more than welcome to practice on it. For 20 minutes there I was in the Verizon store, probably looking like a caveman trying to figure out the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 battery life is so much stronger than the iPhone 7, and the iPhone SE, I ended up switching over to the iPhone 12 mini. If you call me and I don't answer right away, it's nothing personal against you. It's that I'm likely still struggling at figuring out how to answer my new iPhone 12 Mini.

I picked up a couple of good steaks from Sussex Meat Packing, and a good stogey from The George Inn. My Saturday night in was making strong progress. I figure if I'm going to stay in, why not amuse myself with a couple of great steaks I can grill and a good stogey?

Saturday night I was probably in bed by 9pm again. I'm totally comfortable relaxing on my couch Saturday nights watching college football. Sunday was a quiet, chill day. I can't believe I never left my place a single time. That is a first. Wow.

Fortunately Sunday I had football to amuse myself and entertain me. I watched Tom Brady lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a victory over the Carolina Panthers. During the 4pm game Seattle vs Los Angeles Rams I was honestly hoping to nap. Patriots primetime games are not my friend. I hate staying up past my preferred bedtime for several hours! I needed Russell Wilson to have a huge game for my fantasy football team, which didn't happen and my Radioboyz lost welp welp.

I ended up watching the whole game, then my Patriots whole game, so that is why my Epic Weekend In Pictures is a little shorter this week. Overall we had a great weekend, even if it was a rare low key staying in weekend for me.

I hope you had a great weekend too. Next weekend, it's time to Stuff The Bus. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Next week we will try to make it more Epic.
