Former Wallkill Valley youth league treasurer wants charges dismissed

Justine Lynne has been accused of stealing about $30,000 from the Wallkill Valley Football and Cheer Program in 2018 and 2019. Her alleged thefts came close to ending the sports program that serves over 400 boys and girls. Lynne is now asking a judge to dismiss the third degree theft charge she is facing. So she can be enrolled in a pre-trial intervention program for first time offenders. If she successfully completes the program she would not have to plead guilty and would not have a criminal record. So far Assistant Sussex County Prosecutor Rachelle Jones has not supported Lynne's request. Jones believes Lynne should plead guilty and be put on probation because of the seriousness of the alleged crime. On Monday, Lynne's attorney Martin Morrison told Judge Louis Sceusi that his client was "at a position in her life where restitution is something she would be willing to undertake." Then went on to say "Give the girl a break."
