New Jersey's average property tax bill now almost $9,000

New Jersey's already high property taxes went up another 2.1 percent on average in 2019. Governor Murphy says the increase is "proof" his administration is "delivering on it's promise to provide property tax stability." Now the average New Jersey homeowner is paying $8,953.00 per year in property taxes. The year over year increase is the lowest it's been in over a decade. However, the average New Jersey property tax payer is still paying double what they paid 20 years ago. Essex County taxpayers are paying the highest of the high, On average about $1,000.00 a month in property taxes. So "stable" means the country's highest property taxes are still going up. Which means people will continue to move out of New Jersey. I guess it's just crazy talk to ever consider lowering property taxes but I wish it wasn't.
