Hanging ornaments and lights on the Christmas tree can be lot of fun. But, like all good things, the holidays end and you gotta figure out what to do with the tree…

And the fruitcake. And the frilly tuxedo shirt from Aunt Hokie. Although, with the right jacket that shirt might be kinda cool.

But, back to the Christmas tree. Here’s a recycling idea you might not have heard before:

Sink the tree.  That’s right.  Sink it.  If you live near a pond, lake, or river, the tree can help the fish. It makes a shelter of sorts. Think of it like an underwater Tiki Hut! The fish will come and hang out!

Don’t just go and throw the tree in the water.  Be sure to seek permission from your local Wildlife office. And please don’t throw in the fruitcake. I mean c’mon…the fish won’t like it any better than you did!
